Lesvos island (Greek: Λέσβος, also transliterated Lesbos)
The island of harmony and unspoiled beauty. A rock firmly set in the endless blue of the Aegean. A segment of the sank Aegiis, fragment of the ancient Orient, lying just off the coast of Turkey. The most sun - clad part of the Aegean. Perhaps nowhere else in the world has nature been as generous as with Lesvos.
A beautiful silver green overlay, made up of pine, olive and oak trees, covers a large part of this land. It is an astonishing contrast to lush splendour of the rest of the cosmopolitan islands, with its mysterious forests, unique coastline, tranquil sunsets, rugged mountains, scattered hot springs, with their effective therapeutic qualities, the unique petrified forest of giant sequoias covered by lava 15-20 million years ago, then petrified and afterwards resurfaced as a result of seismic activity.
Two gulfs (Kalloni and Gera) define its unique shape among all the Greek islands.
This is the 1630 km2 island of Lesvos (the third largest island in Greece).
A wealth of opportunities allows every visitor to pursue particular interests from sporting and adventure activities to cultural and leisure attractions. A wide variety of accommodation facilities is available to suit the needs of each traveller, from luxurious hotels to self catering hotels, bed and breakfast establishments and guest houses.
